About

This is my first foray into blogging, to accompany me through the next six months as part of Trail magazine’s Fitness Academy.

Back in October, Trail magazine (which I only read for the gear and the news, because I know I could never attempt even the walks they define as easy) carried a tiny article about how they wanted to help a few readers get fit for the hills, perhaps who had never done any serious walking before. My boyfriend Andy would be so happy not to have to wait for me on our walks, and to do more walks, and I am supremely unfit, so it seemed perfect to me.

I sent the initial email, not expecting to get picked. And that is where the story begins!

    Hiya Sarah

Just wanted to drop you a quick line to say how much I’m enjoying your blog. I’m starting out on the long road to get mountain fit and it’s encouraging to see how far you’ve come in such a short while. I’m lucky enough to live in the South Pennines and am just a few miles away from The Pennine Way & Pendle Hill so I really have no excuse when it comes to places to practice….:-) Am hoping to go from being an unfit, overweight lump to being fit enough to join the local Mountain Rescue team so have a 8-15 mile hill walk planned for every weekend from now until next Feb to get the miles/height in.

Good luck with the training – drop me a line if you fancy a chat.

    Carla
